I have been involved with PTA since 2002 as a local unit secretary, and am also the current President for Kaumana Elementary School PTA.  In the beginning, I never thought I would be involved in the largest child advocacy organization in the United States.When my oldest child entered kindergarten, a lot of people talked to me about how great the PTA was.  In my mind then, I thought I was just too busy to get involved doing volunteer work.  I attended the last membership meeting of the school year, and they were holding nominations for the upcoming school year board.  All other positions, except secretary, were taken.I looked at my wife with a smile…she looked back with the evil eye…and I nominated myself.  From then on, I decided to dedicate my time to the purpose of bettering our children’s education and well being.  I am hoping, as a Region Director, I too can get parents, teachers, and the community involved and let them see how beneficial the PTA can be for our children.

By the way, my wife Debi, who I have been married to for nine years, is the new Region Director for the Hawaii I region.  Together, we have three beautiful children, Lopaka, Lanakila, and Princess Lokelani.  So as you can see from my youngest, I have lots of years left in the PTA.
