News from your region director
Region directors, along with other members of our service delivery team, are responsible for keeping local units abreast of what's happening within the region and statewide. We have, therefore, designated this area of our website for that purpose. Simply click on your region in the sub-navigation (above). Please check back often for region news updates.
Region directors are elected biennially at convention by members within each region and are extremely important members of our State Board of Directors. They act as liaison between local units and the State Board of Directors and coordinate statewide programs and services within their regions. Their responsibilities include:
- selecting a region representative to serve on the State's Nominating and Leadership Development Committee
- planning and organizing leadership trainings for local units
- bringing grassroots concerns to the State Board of Directors
- coordinating region meetings, as needed
- overseeing the region Reflections Program
- working with local units to ensure they are in compliance with state requirements for continued affiliation
- advocating PTA positions on issues affecting children and youth and encouraging local units and members to do the same
- encouraging membership development and growth within their region
Region directors work very closely with and personally get to know members of local unit boards. Because of this, we rely heavily on them to seek out and identify individuals who have the ability and desire to take on leadership roles at the state level.
As you can see, region directors are a vital component of our statewide service delivery team. If you are able and willing to provide assistance to them in one or more of the following capacities, please contact them directly.
- Region Reflections Chair
- Region Legislative Chair
- Region Membership Chair
- Region Representative to the State Nominating and Leadership Development Committee
